English-speaking psychotherapy in Vienna

Private psychotherapy in Vienna with discretion, clarity and a protected space

Some situations are hard to speak about in public. This is especially true for people with responsibility, international careers or a strong need for privacy. In my practice in Vienna, psychotherapy can take place outside insurance systems and without unnecessary exposure.

Who this page is for

This offer is often relevant for expatriates, international professionals, physicians, leaders, entrepreneurs and people in public or sensitive roles. But privacy is not a luxury issue. Many people simply want help without involving institutions unless that is truly necessary.

That can be sensible. Still, privacy alone is not enough. Therapy must also be clinically serious. A private setting should not become a polished refuge where the real problem remains untouched.

Discretion has limits

Confidentiality is a core part of psychotherapy. At the same time, good therapy does not promise secrecy as a form of avoidance. The aim is not to hide life, but to make difficult inner realities speakable in a protected space.

Stress that does not stop

High pressure, inner restlessness, insomnia, irritability or the sense of always being switched on.

Anxiety, panic or inner collapse

Fear can look dramatic, but it can also appear as control, overfunctioning or emotional withdrawal.

Private problems kept too private

Alcohol, medication, shame, loneliness, relationship conflict or trauma can stay hidden for years.

How I work

My work is grounded in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis according to Viktor Frankl. That means I do not reduce psychotherapy to symptom management alone. Symptoms matter. Stabilisation matters. But many crises are also crises of orientation, inner truth, responsibility and meaning.

In practice, this can include careful stabilisation, clarifying recurring patterns, working through conflict, and looking at what your life is asking of you now. The question is not only how to feel less distressed, but also how to live more truthfully.

This may involve

  • Reducing acute psychological strain
  • Understanding personal patterns and conflicts
  • Making room for grief, fear, shame or anger
  • Clarifying values, direction and responsibility
  • Developing concrete steps for daily life

Why some people prefer private psychotherapy

  • They want a setting outside public insurance systems.
  • They are concerned about professional or social exposure.
  • They value a direct, personal therapeutic frame.
  • They need therapy in English in Vienna.
  • They want a place where difficult issues can be discussed early, before they escalate.

What private therapy does not mean

  • It does not mean distance from reality.
  • It does not mean a luxury service without depth.
  • It does not mean quick reassurance instead of real work.
  • It does not mean that only high-functioning people are welcome.
  • It means a protected frame in which serious therapeutic work can begin.

What a first contact can look like

The first step is usually simple. You contact me by email or phone. We arrange an initial session and clarify what brings you here, what kind of support you are looking for, and whether my way of working is suitable for your situation.

1

Initial contact

A short and discreet message is enough. You do not need to explain everything at once.

2

First session

We clarify your situation, your concerns and whether this therapeutic frame fits.

3

Next steps

If it makes sense, we define a way of working that is clinically useful and realistic for your life.

Therapy should not force exposure. But it should make honesty possible.
